Kyenshama Solar-Powered Surface Pump Project
Client: Ministry of Water and Environment
Implementing Partner: Water and Pumps International Ltd
Water and Pumps International Ltd successfully designed, supplied, and installed a 30kW solar-powered surface pumping system in Kyenshama under the Ministry of Water and Environment. The system delivers an impressive 90 cubic meters of water per hour at 80 meters total head, powered by a 45kW solar array and a 37kW WaterWay inverter.
The project was aimed at enhancing sustainable water access for productive use and community resilience. The system draws from reliable surface source- Kyenshaama dam, distributing water to support both agricultural and domestic needs, significantly improving water reliability and efficiency in the area.
This project stands as a model for large-scale solar water pumping, demonstrating how renewable energy can meet rural water demands sustainably and cost-effectively.
